Exciting News: CERERE Project Takes Off!
On June 10-11, the University of Calabria hosted the kickoff meeting of the international CERERE project (Cereals Resiliency Revolution for agile supply chain management in the Mediterranean). This action is funded by the PRIMA Programme 2023, supported by the European Union – Section 1 – Food Value-chain 2023 – Topic 1.3.1 (RIA).
Aligned with Industry 5.0 trends, CERERE aims to contribute to enhancing the resilience and viability of the cereal supply network and local food systems in MENA countries (and, by large, in the Mediterranean area) through a combined, cross-cutting approach of basic research, industrial research, technological development, social/business innovation, and capacity building.
This project represents a collaborative effort from a stellar team, merging technical and social sciences, including The Berlin School of Economics and Law, CAL-TEK srl, Slow Food, Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, SQLI Services, The American University in Cairo – School of Sciences and Engineering, CREA – Consiglio per la ricerca in agricoltura e l’analisi dell’economia agraria, Field Crops Central Research Institute.
What is CERERE?
As the frequency and magnitude of global disruptions increase, organisations and individuals need to consider a novel range of options to build resilience and to ensure viability. CERERE is based on four established principles, which represent critical aspects that individuals and organisations (regardless of their size) must focus on to become disruption-proof: 1) productivity monitoring and demand forecasting; 2) threat prediction and continuous risk assessment; 3) collaboration and agile procurement/distribution; 4) intelligent and semi-automated orchestration. Such aspects will be investigated within four pillars that must be concurrently investigated: people, product, process and technology.
Let’s revolutionize the cereal supply chain together! 🚀
